Volleyball Journey PC Controls: Mouse, E and Q

Last updated 2026-10-18Unofficial player article

Quick answer

  • Mouse: Left Click is the grounded bump and airborne spike.
  • Keyboard: E controls setting; Q controls diving or an airborne block.

Put Left Click, E and Q in different jobs

On PC, start with the three contact families rather than memorizing six unrelated actions. Left Click receives on the ground and spikes in the air. E sets on the ground and jump sets while airborne. Q dives on the ground and blocks in the air. Volleyball Journey marks these keybinds as customizable.

A keyboard rehearsal that keeps the ball readable

Practice a grounded receive before adding an attacking jump. Move toward a playable ball, use Left Click with the intention to bump, and follow where the ball goes. Next, give E a separate attempt with a teammate ready for the following contact. You are connecting an input to a purpose, not trying to make every touch score.

When those ground contacts are familiar, rehearse the airborne equivalents. Use Left Click for the spike and E for the jump set. Keep the intended outcome clear: the spike is your attacking contact, while the jump set still prepares another player's attack. If you keep getting the wrong family, slow the sequence down instead of adding another key.

Make Q a deliberate defensive choice

Q needs an especially clear ground-versus-air decision. A falling ball beyond a normal approach calls for a dive attempt on the ground. A net contest calls for the airborne block. Jumping reflexively before Q can change the action you meant to use.

Keep your attention on the incoming attack and the space your teammates cover. Chasing every ball and every block at once makes it harder to tell whether a missed touch came from the key, the timing or your position. Start with the spike guide when you want to add an attacking contact after receiving.

When your saved mapping differs

A custom key layout is useful only if you can name what each binding now does. Keep one comfortable arrangement while learning a contact; changing the layout and the technique simultaneously makes errors harder to identify. If an input appears wrong even in a simple attempt, compare it with the complete controls reference and work through input troubleshooting.
